What should I about? A million things run through my mind but I want to blog about something that the person reading is interested in. Of course, finding someone's interest can be daunting - for me my interest change constantly. Soooo because of that I will just blog about lots of things. Whatever pops up! Ha!
Today I will talk about my two sisters (I am the middle sister but the one with short hair in this photo). They have been my greatest supporters, cheerleaders, etc. whatever you want to call them - lots of encouragement and always willing to listen while I bounce ideas off them. We always have such a great time together laughing and acting silly but we've cried together too.
In the picture we were posing with our sunglasses and it became an annual event each time we were able to get together. At the time of the pic she lived in Tacoma, Cherl in St. Louis and I was in San Diego. Selfies are so fun!
Cherl is my older sister (on the right) and such an incredible artist that I find it difficult to refer to myself as an artist. She is a ceramicist (is that a word?), and her watercolors/pens art is amazing. You will see some of her creations in my shop. It is not that she is my sister that I want to promote her art but because you
just need to see it - - it is so beautifully unique. Her use of colors and her sketching is remarkable. See those sweet vases? She made those! I love her work so much and others need to see it. She gave up trying to get it in front of people (the art world is brutal) so now she simply enjoys the creative process. While not being artsy she is gardening. She reminds me a bit of Monet because her garden is the influence behind most of her work.....I think don't you?
Terri is my younger sister (the lady wearing blue in the photo) and she and I only live 4 miles from each other now. For so long we have been separated by miles and only saw each other once a year, but now that I have moved back to my hometown, Advance, MO we get to see each other lots and lots. We have grown close over the years and had some dang good fights but fortunately they never led anywhere because of the love we have for each other. Her passion presently is gardening - she has lots of room to grow lots of flowers and vegetables - her gardening skills are amazing but I am going to write about her other talents. Quilting and card making although to be honest she seems to be able to do most everything. Crochet, knitting, watercolors, concrete leaf making,.... you name it and she can probably do it. Sadly she isn't retired yet so it doesn't leave a lot of time for her to do what she enjoys. Also, because of the lave flow in Hawaii (moved from Tacoma to Hawaii) she lost most of her supplies and personal belongs that she was saving for retirement. Being forced to move back to Missouri was hard but she is adjusting to all of the changes and things are looking up for she and her husband's adventure on the 40 acre woods (almost Winnie the Pooh - ha!). That will be another blog some time later. For now, here are a few of her fabric paper piecing that she has done - I call them tiny quilts (6" x 12") and have turned them into greeting cards soon to be included in my shop.
Fabric Paper Piecing - these are only 6" x 12" - look how detailed? So cute! And there is one for each month - I have only shown you the April and May calendar. Each of them can be tied to display and saved from year to year - I love them so much! |
OK well that is a wrap! Please take a look at the various greeting cards that have been added to my shop that showcase their work.
Take care - thanks if you made it this far! Ha! Life is what you make it!
Warmest regards
Debbie
